At the Faculty of Computer Science, the Institute of Theoretical Computer Science, invites applications for the

Chair (W3) of Algorithmics

to be filled as soon as possible.

You will represent the subject area “Algorithmics” in research and teaching. In research, you should have made lasting contributions to one or more topical subareas of the field of Algorithmics, such as algorithmic analysis of large data sets; algorithm engineering; algorithmic network analysis; algorithmic game theory; computational geometry; complexity and computability; online algorithms; randomized, approximative, or parametrized algorithms; string algorithms. International publications and contacts as well as the active participation in research projects in one or several of the above-mentioned areas are of particular importance. Your tasks in teaching include lectures in German and English language within the scope of the denomination of the chair in undergraduate and graduate studies of the Bachelor, Master, and Diploma courses at the Faculty of Computer Science as well as at related faculties. Moreover, the supervision of Bachelor, Master and PhD theses is required. Your willingness to start and continue interdisciplinary cooperation projects within the diverse technical and scientific community in Dresden − especially with member institutions of DRESDEN-concept − and other faculties of TU Dresden (mainly from the School of Engineering Sciences) is of special importance. Participation in academic self-administration within the boards of the Faculty of Computer Science and of TU Dresden is required.

We expect very good teaching skills, the ability and willingness to offer courses in English as well as experience. Proficiency in German is not a prerequisite for appointment. However, we expect you to acquire sufficient language skills in German to conduct teaching and administrative tasks within two years of appointment. You are able to prove excellent international publications, international contacts as well as the successful supervision of PhD students. You should exhibit experience in the acquisition and management of third-party-funded projects. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of § 59 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSG).
