Sarpanchas and panchayat members of all seven panchayats in Sanvordem constituency have demanded a cabinet berth for Sanvordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar in recognition of his services towards the overall development of the constituency.
The elected members from the seven panchayat bodies comprising Kirlapal Dabal, Sanvordem, Kalay, Mollem, Shigao, Colem and Darbandora also called on Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to take cognisance of the overall lead of 9,500 votes for the BJP candidate in Sanvordem constituency in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
A representation to this effect was made to the chief minister at Ravindra Bhavan Sankhali on Sunday.
The delegation was represented by Sanvordem Sarpanch Chinmaya Naik, Kalay Sarpanch Baban Gaonkar, Dabal Sarpanch Damodar Bandekar, Molem Sarpanch Vaman Gaonkar, Sancorda Sarpanch Priya Khandeparkar, Darbandora Sarpanch Balaji Gawas and Colem Sarpanch Govind Shigaonkar.
“Gaonkar along with the party workers worked day and night to give the highest lead for the party candidate Pallavi Dempo which needs to be duly recognised by the party,” informed former Sanvordem sarpanch and panchayat member Shashikant Naik.
Darbandora Sarpanch Balaji Gauns informed that ever since the stoppage of regular mining activities, people from the mining belt of Sanvordem constituency have suffered to a great extent and many have been unemployed.
“The only option to solve unemployment problem in Sanvordem constituency would be to make Ganesh Gaonkar a minister in the cabinet so that he could think on ways to solve the problem of unemployment in the constituency,” said Gauns.
