If you like survival games there is a new title that mixes up several genres in open-world, post-apocalyptic sandbox. The Front is a title that focuses on survival, but you will find FPS elements where modern warfare weaponry is used ranging from pistols, through armoured vehicles and tanks to military aircraft. The story doesn’t end here as the game employs tower defence and base building elements too. All of that is tied together by world exploration and base riding. The focal point of The Front is possibility to play with other people, yet it can be problematic to join dedicated, official servers. Here you will find a solution for this issue.

Unable to join dedicated servers or official servers in The Front fix

Since The Front focuses on multiplayer, it can be a dealbreaker if you are not able to join any of the official game servers or dedicated ones. There are many players who experience problems with joining them as their connection ends with “Failed connection to host” or “Server connection timeout” messages.

Many multiplayer titles rely on anticheat software that is supposed to protect legitimate players from encountering cheaters. It is often a double-edged sword that more often than not causes some kind of problems for honest gamers. The situation doesn’t seem to be different in the case of The Front.

As it often happens, players take the problem in their hands before any action from the creators’ side is taken. The community gathered on Steam has noticed that if you start a dedicated server and turn anticheat option off, you will be able to play online. This solution has been marked by the developers as correct answer, though if it does not work for you, there is another way of solving this found by a different person.

One of the people engaged in the conversation reported that in their case, quite the opposite fix has worked. They specified that they had a single player game with anticheat option disabled. To fix multiplayer, they had to delete that game instance, and reenable anticheat in the single player settings.

There is definitely some interference between The Front’s multiplayer functionality and implemented anticheat solution. Since the developers marked answers on Steam Community discussion related to this issue, it means that they are aware of the problem and will be working on that. We can expect that they will officially address this issue soon, so keep an eye out on the patch.
