Two veteran industry sales executives are bolstering the ranks of Xcel Wetsuits and Salty Crew.
Paul Harvey has been tapped to be vice president of global sales at Xcel Wetsuits.
Harvey parted ways with Rip Curl in October after a nearly 16-year run there leading sales for North America. He also worked at Rusty Surfboards before joining Rip Curl.
“There are not many core surf brands that have stood the test of time and remained true to their roots like Xcel has,” Harvey said in a statement. “I couldn’t be more excited to help grow such an iconic brand and help it take a leadership position in the wetsuit category.”
Xcel is owned by Wedge Brands, which bought the business from Boardriders in 2020 with a focus on international expansion, U.S. growth through the specialty channel, and product innovation, among other tactics.
“We are excited to bring Paul Harvey on board at Xcel to help navigate the changes we are seeing in the surf category,” Wedge Brands CEO Jarka Duba said in a statement. “His experience will be instrumental in setting our course and growing through the turbulence in the marketplace. Paul’s long-term relationships with our surf retail accounts will be key in consolidating our position in this important channel.”
Harvey succeeds Courtney Kincaid at Xcel, with the latter set to move on to Salty Crew.
Kincaid officially joins the company Monday as vice president of sales, bringing with him plenty of industry sales experience.
Prior to Xcel, Kincaid was men’s vice president of sales at O’Neill. He’s also served as Americas director of sales at Reef and was a sales manager at Oakley.
“We are so stoked to have Courtney join the Salty Crew team,” Salty Crew GM of North America Jason Shelton told SES. “We’ve known Courtney for a long time and are fired up to have someone with his relationships and experience join the team as our VP of sales.”
