At the Faculty of Computer Science, the Institute of Software and Multimedia Technology invites applications for the

Chair (W2) of Didactics of lnformatics

to be filled at the earliest possible date.

You (m/f/x) will represent the appointment area in research and teaching. Besides national and international research activities and collaborations, close cooperation within the Faculty of Computer Science, with other academic units of our university and partner institutions of DRESDEN- concept is desirable. We expect the successful applicant to take over the management of the Student Computing Center as an institution of TU Dresden and to develop it for the future. In addition, outreach to schools for informatics in education is an important activity, where the further development of the school laboratory EduInf is just one example. At the same time, we expect the collaboration with the Center for Teacher Education and Educational Research, the participation in academic self-administration and in the committees of the Faculty of Computer Science as well as the readiness for interdisciplinary cooperation. The teaching responsibilities cover courses for educating informatics teachers and contributions to other study programs at the Faculty of Computer Science and beyond for students of other subjects. We wish for your willingness and ability to conduct classes in English.

We are looking for a personality with proven substantial contributions in at least two of the following research and focus areas:

  • Development of concepts and standards in informatics education
  • Analysis and evaluation methods for educational practice in informatics 
  • Development of theories and research methods for didactics of informatics
  • E-Learning, online-learning platforms, and utilization of digital media for teaching
  • Media didactics and digital media in education.

We expect a significant number of high-quality publications. In addition, experiences in school teaching as well as in acquiring and successfully conducting research projects and in project management are required. Applicants must fulfill the appointment requirements of § 59 of the Institutions of Higher Education Act in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSG).
