I’m in the process of setting up a dedicated server to host gaming sessions for myself and a group of friends. We’ll be playing heavily modded versions of Minecraft and Ark Survival Evolved, though not simultaneously, with around 10 players at peak times. Additionally, I’ll be using this server for some lightweight C++ personal projects.
My current setup includes 32GB of spare DDR4 RAM, a 1TB M.2 SSD, and robust bandwidth. I’ve chosen to run Ubuntu Server 22.04 and am now looking for CPU recommendations.
My budget for the CPU is roughly $600, though I’m willing to consider going slightly over if it ensures optimal performance and a smooth, lag-free experience.
