OVHcloud is letting you host your own AMD Ryzen-based gaming server

OVHcloud announced the launch of a new range of game servers powered by the latest AMD Ryzen 5000 processors.

Previous AMD based servers from OVHcloud were based on AMD’s Epyc server processors.

Despite using desktop processors in the servers, OVHcloud worked with AMD to optimise them for server use. We have asked what this involved and will update this article with how they did this when they get back to us.

With the servers set to be based in Singapore and Australia regionally, and the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States internationally, the company hopes to appeal to gamers, resellers, and video processing professionals looking for powerful servers.

According to OVHcloud, they will be launching two types of gaming servers:

  • The Game 1 range is powered by AMD Ryzen 5 5600X processors and intended for consumers, students and tech-savvy users who want to host games online.
  • The Game 2 range is powered by AMD Ryzen 7 5800X processors and designed for professionals who want to host multiple online games via the same computer. These servers are also ideally suited to the needs of video publishers, community managers and any professionals that handle creative workloads.
