Avedem, Velim VPs resolve to oppose Mhadei diversion

QUEPEM/MARGAO: The village panchayats of Avedem and Velip handed resolutions to oppose the diversion of Mhadai to Karnataka at their respective gram sabhas yesterday.
Avedem Sarpanch Bhupendra Desai stated that the gram sabha together with 5 members and villagers unanimously handed a decision to oppose the diversion of Mhadei to Karnataka.
The Velim panchayat on the gram sabha assembly held on Sunday resolved that the Central authorities and the involved authority ought to withdraw permission given for the Karnataka authorities’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) on River Mhadei.
A proposal with regard to the Mhadei River was moved by gram sabha member Vinay Tari, apart from Sarpanch Veena Cardozo.
