As a part of a broader operations reorg, Netflix has laid off 30 folks in its animation movie unit.
Kidscreen has confirmed that the remaining workforce will probably be managed by VPs Karen Toliver and Traci Balthazor. And the plan, based on a spokesperson, is to put in Balthazor (VP of animation movie manufacturing) as chief of the corporate’s animated movie enterprise.
The transfer comes as Netflix works on closing its acquisition of Australian animation studio Animal Logic (Happy Feet), which it introduced it was shopping for in July.
Balthazor and Toliver will work collectively to run Netflix’s animated film enterprise, which in the the previous has yielded characteristic movie co-pros corresponding to Klaus with (*30*) Pablos Animation Studios, The Willoughbys with Bron Animation and Pearl Studio’s Over the Moon. Upcoming initiatives from the unit embrace Wendell & Wild, a co-pro with Monkeypaw Productions and Guillermo Del Toro, and The Jim Henson Company’s Pinocchio.
