The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Monday stated a cyber attack befell on its email server on Sunday evening however immediate motion resulted in no data loss.

As a precaution, the Authority had shut down the server. “A ransom ware attack on NHAI email server befell yesterday evening. The attack was foiled by the safety system and email servers have been shut down from security viewpoint,” NHAI Chief General Manager, IT, Akhilesh Srivastava, stated.

The system is restored now, Srivastava added. “No data loss befell. NHAI data lake and different techniques remained unaffected from this attack,” he stated.

The authorities had warned towards a large-scale cyber attack towards people and companies earlier this month. India’s cyber safety nodal company, CERT-In had issued an advisory warning that the potential phishing assaults may impersonate authorities companies, departments and commerce our bodies which have been tasked to supervise disbursement of presidency fiscal help.

The NHAI has been mandated the duty to develop, preserve and handle National Highways, the arterial roads of the nation, for inter-state motion of passengers and items.
